Multi-Grain Porridge

3 cups water
1/4 cup millet
1 seed pod of star anise
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1/8th tsp freshly ground nutmeg
1/4th cup dried cherries, blueberries, cranberries or raisins
1/4th cup of nuts chopped
1/4th cup buckwheat groats
1/4th cup rye flakes
1/4th cup oats
unrefined sugar or honey to TT
butter or ghee TT
milk TT 

Bring the water to a boil.  Add the millet, star anise, cloves, cinnamon, ground nutmeg, fruit and nuts and simmer for 10 minutes.


Add the buckwheat groats, rye flakes, and oats, continue to simmer another 15 minutes.  Add sugar, butter and more water if needed.  Finish with milk and serve immediately. 

Tip* Use trail mix in your morning porridge or yogurt, I like Trader Joe's Omega mix.
